VERIFICATION FAQ

Listed below are typical questions for verification-related inquiries. If you do not see your question listed below, contact our office at 503-838-8327 or registrar@wou.edu.

How to Obtain Enrollment or Full-Time Status Verification (for non-loan deferment related purposes)

If you need official documentation of your enrollment status, you can generate a WOU-endorsed certificate through the National Student Clearinghouse.

  • From your student Portal, open Experience, navigate to the Student Menu card, and then click Open Student Profile.
  • On the left-hand menu, select Enrollment Verification. You will be redirected to the National Student Clearinghouse Student Self-Service Site.
  • Choose the enrollment period you need (e.g., Current Enrollment, All Enrollment). To view and print your official certificate, click Obtain an enrollment certificate.

If the certificate does not load correctly or you have specific questions about your status, contact the Office of the Registrar at 503-838-8327 or registrar@wou.edu.

Scholarship Verification: Proof of Registration & Enrollment

If you have been awarded a scholarship that requires proof of enrollment, most organizations will accept a copy of your WOU Acceptance Letter and a copy of your Class Schedule as proof of registration/enrollment.

How to Access and Print Your Class Schedule

  • From your student Portal, open Experience, navigate to the Student Menu card, and then click Open Student Profile.
  • In the top left corner, use the Term drop-down menu to select the current Term (e.g., Winter 2026 01/05/2026-03/2026). Your Registered Courses for the term will be listed directly on your Student Profile page.
  • For a more detailed view, on the left-hand menu of your Student Profile, select Registration and Schedule, then click View Registration Information. Under Class Schedule, select a Term (e.g., Winter 2026). This will show your schedule in both a list format and a calendar grid view.
  • If you need a physical copy of your Class Schedule, click on the printer icon in the rop right corner. This will generate a clean layout of your weekly classes that you can print or save as a PDF to email to your scholarship provider.

Third-Party Degree & Enrollment Verification

Western Oregon University has authorized the National Student Clearinghouse to provide all degree and enrollment verifications for third-party representatives.

How to Request Verification

Third-party requesters (such as employers, background screening firms, or lending institutions) should visit the National Student Clearinghouse website for immediate verification:

Important Privacy Information (FERPA)

Note regarding Confidential Records: If a student has requested a formal privacy hold on their records (“Confidential” status), WOU is prohibited by federal law from releasing or acknowledging any information, including directory information, without a specific FERPA-compliant release from the student. SACM Enrollment & Degree Verification

If you are a SACM student requiring official documentation, our office provides specialized verification letter to meet your requirements.  

How To Reqeust 

  • From your student Portal, locate and complete the Verification Enrollment request link.  
    • You may use this process to request documentation for:
      • Enrollment status
      • Breakddown of Hybrid vs Online coursework
      • Anticipated date of graduation
      • Total credits earned
      • What if I change my major/minor? 
      • Other requests

Please allow 5 business days for our office to process your request. To ensure your documentation is processed on time, please submit your request at least one week before your deadline.

Grades, GPA, and Academic Standing

You can find your grades, current major, GPA, and academic standing for both current and past terms through your Student Profile.

  • From your student Portal, open Experience, navigate to the Student Menu card, and then click Open Student Profile.
  • Navigate to the Curriculum, Hours & GPA section on the right side of your profile. This displays your primary major and overall GPA
    • To view your academic standing and and full history of your grades:  
      • On the left-hand menu, select Unofficial Transcript. In the Academic Transcript area, using the Transcript Level drop-down menu, select All Levels. Next, using the Transcript Type drop-down menu, select Un-Official, and click Submit. This provides a complete term-by-term breakdown of your academic history. 

If you cannot see your grades or transcripts, due to a “Hold” on your account. Click the Holds link in the top-right corner of your Student Profile to see which department you need to contact. Once the hold(s) is removed, you should be able to access your unofficial transcripts. For more details on Registration Holds, refer to the Registration Holds section on this page

If you require an official document of your academic record, you can order an official transcript. To start your order, please visit our Transcript website

A GPA Calculator is available for your convenience. This tool allows you to input “what-if” grades for your current or futures courses to see how they will impact your GPA. Please note that this tool provides unofficial estimates for planning purposes only; official GPAs are calculated and finalized at the end of each term once all grades are processed.

Where can I find course descriptions?

Courses from Fall 2003 – Present Detailed descriptions for courses taken from Fall 2003 through the current term are available in our Online Catalogs.

Courses Prior to Fall 2003 For course descriptions dating before Fall 2003, please submit a formal request to the Office of the Registrar. Your request must include a list of the specific courses and the terms in which they were taken (e.g., Fall 1989: BI 101, FR 202). Email registrar@wou.edu with your list of courses, the terms they were completed, and your preferred return method (email, fax, or mail). You may also submit requests via fax at 503-838-9696 or by mail to the Office of the Registrar.

Need a Verification Letter or a Form filled out?

If you require a verification letter, send an email from your WOU email account to registrar@wou.edu. Please clearly state the specific information you need verified (e.g., enrollment dates, GPA, or anticipated graduation date). If you no longer have access to our WOU email account, please complete our Verification Letter Request form. This forms provides the necessary identifying verification and authorization to release your records. 

If you require a specific form that needs to be completed, be aware of what you are authorizing our office to verify and ensure all personal information sections are completed. If there form does not include a signature line, you must include a brief, hand-signed statement authorizing the Office of the Registrar to complete the form.

Where can I update personal information such as address/phone number?

You can log in to your student portal account at wou.edu/portal. Then click on the Wolf Web icon and click on the “Personal Information” tab.  This will allow you to access a menu on how to update your personal information.

If you have never logged in before, you can click on the “Account Lookup” link and follow the steps to gain access.  If you run into technical difficulties logging into your student account, you can contact University Computing Services at 503-838-8925 or ucshelpdesk@wou.edu.

How long do verification requests take to process?

Requests can take up to 5 business days to be processed by our office. Please allow ample time for us to process your request as quickly as possible. If you have extenuating circumstances, contact our office at 503-838-8327 or registrar@wou.edu.
