Student Records & Privacy

Western Oregon University is committed to the privacy and security of our students.  The Student Records Policy outlines the policies established by the university to maintain the confidentiality of students’ education records and complies with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) – sometimes called the Buckley Amendment. The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) (20 U.S.C. § 1232g; 34 CFR Part 99) is a Federal law that protects the privacy of student education records. The law applies to all schools that receive funds under an applicable program of the U.S. Department of Education.”

The University Registrar is the student data records custodian responsible for overseeing the appropriate use and management of student records in accordance with state law, federal statutes and regulations and university policies and procedures governing access to and use of student education records.
