The Department of Education has communicated a projected six-week delay in the processing and transmission of FAFSA information to colleges and universities. Consequently, this delay will impact the timeline for the disbursement of financial aid awards at Western.
We are committed to providing you with the most up-to-date and precise financial aid information. However, due to this delay, our ability to send out this information to you will also be affected. We understand the importance of timely updates, and we assure you that we will keep you informed as soon as more information becomes available.
If you have not already filed, make sure you submit your 2024-25 FAFSA Application as soon as possible and your WOU General Scholarship Application by the March 1st deadline. Additionally, to help with the delayed launch of the FAFSA Application this year, the Financial Aid Office has extended the early filing deadline from February 1st to March 1st. Once we’ve received your FAFSA information, you will be notified via email.
We appreciate your patience during this period of adjustment. Should you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out to the Financial Aid Office at (503) 838-8475 or by email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Thank you for your understanding.
The new FAFSA® form for the 2024-2025 academic year will have a soft launch by December 31st, 2023. Per federal electronic announcement, students and families will be able to complete and submit the 2024–25 FAFSA® form online starting December 31st. The FAFSA® will be treating the period following December 31st as a soft launch period, which will allow them to monitor and respond in real time to any potential issues impacting the applicant experience.
