How do I know if a course has a waitlist? The display pages for both the Real Time Class Availability and Wolf Web “Search for Classes” show a note of “WL” in red for courses with waitlists.
Will I be able to see where I am on the waitlist? Wolf Web will tell you that a class is closed but that there is a waitlist, and Wolf Web will tell you how many people are currently on the waitlist. Once you have added yourself to a waitlist, you can check “Detailed Student Schedule” to see where you are on the waitlist (#1 is the top position and will be notified of the 1st opening available).
How will I be notified if a space comes open for me? As soon as an opening becomes available in Wolf Web, you will receive a notification e-mail to your wou.edu account, telling you which class has opened up and the time frame you have to register for the class. Note that these openings occur as other students drop the class, so you could be notified any time of the day or night, even on the weekends. Check your wou.edu email often to ensure you don’t miss your notification.
How long do I have to take the space once I am notified? You have 24 hours from the time of notification to log in to Wolf Web and register for the class.
What happens if I don’t take action within 24 hours? Can I get back on the same waitlist? If you do not take action within the 24 hour time frame allotted, you will be taken off the waitlist and the next student on the waitlist will be offered the space in the class. You can get back on the waitlist, but you will be put at the bottom of the list.
Can I be registered for one section of a class and be on a waitlist for a different section? Yes. If you are registered in one section of a class, such as Math 111, you can also be on a waitlist for a different section of Math 111. You can also waitlist for several sections of the same course.
Is there a limit to the number of waitlists I can be on? Technically, there is not an overall credit limit for waitlisting. We ask that you use the waitlisting system judiciously. Make room for other students by removing yourself from waitlists once your final schedule is determined.
Can I waitlist for a class that has a time conflict with another class already on my schedule? While time conflicts are not allowed on your schedule, you can choose to be on a waitlist even if the waitlisted class has a time conflict with another class on your schedule. When you are notified of an opening, you will have to decide which class you want; if you want the waitlisted class, drop the other one from your schedule, then add the waitlisted course.
I can tell a class I want has a waitlist, but I can’t get on it. Why not? Waitlists have capacity limits. If the waitlist is closed, you will not be able to get on the list until there is an opening.
When does waitlisting begin and end? Waitlisting begins the same day and time as registration opens. Waitlists are maintained and notifications continue to launch through Wednesday of the first week. Waitlisting ends at that point.
What email account will the waitlist notification be sent? E-mail notifications are sent only to your wou.edu e-mail account. E-mail notifications will not be sent to other e-mail addresses per Western Oregon University communication policy.

How can I view a list of students on my course’s waitlist?
Can I increase the size of my waitlist?
Can I sign an add/drop form before the term begins to allow a student into my class?
How can I view a list of students on my course’s waitlist? Faculty (and staff with access to departmental class lists in Wolf Web) will be able to view a list of the students on their waitlists in Wolf Web on the Faculty menu under “Summary waitlist.” Waitlists will not be viewable after Friday of the first week of the term.
No. Students add themselves to waitlists on a first-come, first-served basis.
Can I increase the size of my waitlist? Waitlist limits can only be changed with approval from your Division Chair and Dean.
Can I sign an add/drop form if my class has a waitlist? No – enrollment overrides into classes with waitlists cause problems for students who are on the waitlist. We ask that no add/drop forms are signed until after waitlisting is turned off.
