      ALEKS Math Assessment

ALEKS and General Education at WOU (wou.edu/gened)

      Options & your major

        • For WOU General Education, you may test out of the Foundations – Mathematics requirement by scoring 61 or higher on the WOU ALEKS Math Assessment, earned in a proctored and timed testing environment.
          • Note, there is no option to use ALEKS to test out of the mathematics courses required by your major.
        • If your major requires a mathematics course
          • The mathematics course(s) required by your major will also satisfy the WOU General Education Foundations – Mathematics requirement. You do not need to take the ALEKS Mathematics Assessment in a timed and proctored environment, your General Education Foundations – Mathematics category will be fulfilled when you take your major’s first mathematics course.
          • You may still need to take an unproctored ALEKS Assessment, see About ALEKS.
        • If your major does not require a mathematics course, or you are undecided about your major
          • You may test out of the Foundations – Mathematics requirement by scoring 61 or higher on the WOU ALEKS Math Assessment, earned in a proctored and timed (up to two hours) testing environment.

Testing out of the Foundations – Mathematics requirement

        • Required: You must have previously scored 61 or higher on a WOU ALEKS assessment (see Take the Assessment)

        • Required: Your WOU ALEKS Assessment score of 61 or higher is less than one year old

        • ALEKS provides individualized learning modules to help you review and prepare for the proctored ALEKS assessment. Using the learning modules can help you earn a 61 or higher on the ALEKS assessment and be prepared to take the assessment in the proctored and timed environment. If you are certain you don’t need further study, please contact the Mathematics Department.

      Scheduling a proctored ALEKS Assessment

        • To arrange a proctored and timed (up to two hours) ALEKS assessment, please complete the following form: Proctored ALEKS Mathematics Assessment Request
