Program Assistants
There are currently two Program Assistants working within University Housing, the Residential Programming Program Assistant and the Facilities and Operations Program Assistant. Both Program Assistants serve as part of the University Housing staff. Both Program Assistants work in cooperation with other members of the University Housing staff to accomplish the overall objectives of the department. The Residential Programming Program Assistant
The Residential Programming PA is involved, and works closely with residential staff through assisting with staff training and In-service programs. The Residential PA assists with implementation and promotion of programming efforts throughout the academic year. The Residential PA will work with staff to update social media accounts with appropriate content. This PA will assist with RA Selection and be involved with the assessment of residential programs, and is expected to participate in committee meetings with various groups throughout the year.
The Facilities and Operations Program Assistant
The Facilities and Operations PA coordinates with University Housing staff to maintain, update and facilitate the Fire and Life Safety and Sustainability programs. The Facilities and Operations PA assists with preparation for, and assistance with conferences. In addition to serving as a Team Leader for the front desk at the Residential Service Center, this PA sits on the Housing and Dining Advisory Committee. The Facilities and Operations PA is also involved with the development of marketing plans for the department and assists with the Housing Renewal program.
Residential Program Assistant Minimum Qualifications
- Junior status or higher by Fall 2017 and in good standing at Western Oregon University.
- A cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher and enrolled as a full-time student (12 or more credits) throughout the 2017-2018 academic year.
- Experience in activities/events programming (e.g. RHA, Peer Mentors, RA/ARA, SAB, ASWOU, or other related field where programming is a component).
- Organized with the ability to prioritize and balance many different tasks.
- Initiative with the ability to create and manage projects independently.
