WOU alumni, Jordan Warner, a Physical Education teacher at Riverside Elementary in Grants Pass created a skiing and snowboarding unit for his students.

On Monday, March 13th, Mr. Warner took third, fourth, and fifth graders to Mt. Ashland to teach them how to ski and snowboard. In an interview, Mr. Warner mentioned that he remembered all his childhood field trips and he wanted to create the same memories for his students. Mr. Warner said, “I want to be the person that gives some of my students a meaningful experience and a memory that they are going to talk about and think about for years to come.”

He also reported that many students had a great time on the field trip. This trip was made possible with donations from Public Lands and Dutch Bros. With these donations, students were able to get clothes and scholarships for the field trip.  Mr. Warner has also brought other outdoor activities into the classroom such as skateboarding and rock climbing.
