Dr. Mary Pettenger is a professor of politics, policy and administration at Western Oregon University. She received her Ph.D. and M.A. in International Studies from the University of Denver, and her B.A. from Whitman College. She teaches courses in the fields of international and comparative politics, including International Relations, Environmental Politics, U.S. Foreign Policy, International Law, International Organization, Human Rights, Causes of War, Government and Politics of Europe and Government and Politics of Asia. She is also the faculty advisor for the WOU Model United Nations Club.
Her research focuses on the social construction of international climate change policies, environmental policies in the Netherlands and Canada, and active learning pedagogy. She has published an edited volume, The Social Construction of Climate Change, ed., Ashgate Publishing, 2007, a chapter in the Routledge Handbook of International Environmental Politics, and in The Globalisation of Insecurity: Challenges for Global Governance as well as articles in International Studies Perspectives, Environmental Communication, and International Politics.
