“I am from Salem, and while attending WOU I pursued a political science major with a minor in social science. I got involved with Model United Nations which was a wonderful experience both educationally as well as getting involved on a more personal level with other students from both WOU and other Universities. I am currently pursuing my master’s in political science at PSU, with my main field in American politics and a subfield of comparative politics.
In December I will begin extensive work on my thesis which will examine the connection between the percentage of women representatives in state legislature and how that can be affected by a citizen legislature as opposed to a professional legislature – using Oregon as a case study. I have also become involved in New Leadership Oregon 2013, and have had excellent opportunities moving me forward to my dual goals of campaign management and toward eventually attaining my Ph.D. in political science.
“Without the wonderful experiences at WOU I would not have been prepared for the rigorous work that grad school requires. In particular, the Professors in the Political Science department were simultaneously supportive and encouraging while also holding expectations of very high standards and academic excellence.”
