“I grew up in a small rural farm-working town that was predominantly Latino. I, along with many of my other classmates, were first in our families to go to college. My major is public policy and administration with a focus in state and local government; my minor is sociology with a focus in community service. I plan on pursuing a master’s degree in social policy.
“Through the public policy and administration program at Western Oregon University I have been able to grow personally and professionally. The professors are passionate about what they teach and encourage participation both inside and outside of the classroom. The public policy and administration program helped me to both open doors and understand policy on a micro and macro level. Ultimately, I was able to take what I learned in the classroom and apply it to a congressional internship in Washington, D.C. where I gained firsthand experience working in the United States Capitol for a member of Congress.
