Emergency Student Aid Overview
Emergency Student Aid offers WOU students in crisis an opportunity to receive a one-time financial support that may help with housing, utilities, food, child care, transportation, medical care, course material, and other life essentials. Aid is available in both grants and loans, and all are intended to be awarded once per year per student. Review the funds and eligibility information section below prior to submitting an application. To submit an application, complete all fields in the emergency student aid application section below. Applications are reviewed by a committee, who determines eligibility and aid amount. Aid amounts vary and are under the discretion of the committee.

Funds and Eligibility Information
Emergency Student Aid Fund:
- Grant, repayment suggested-not required.
James Gregory Daniels Memorial Trust Fund:
- Grant, repayment suggested-not required.
Cancer Support Student Aid Fund:
- Grant, repayment not required.
- Intended to support need in response to cancer, either student personally or family member with cancer. Can be used for travel, medical expenses, or other support related to cancer.
Virginia Burton Loan Fund:
- Loan to be repaid, interest free.
Complete all fields below and provide detailed information of your emergency. All information provided is confidential and for internal use by the Office of the Vice President for Student Affairs and WOU Foundation. Your WOU V# will be used to verify information you have provided. All requests are subject to availability of funds and eligibility criteria met.
Please allow up to two (2) weeks for an application to be reviewed. A committee member may reach out to you if additional information is needed. Approved or disapproved applications will be notified via email. Please allow up to two (2) weeks for approved aid to be processed. Aid is provided in a check made payable to the student. Emergency Student Aid is a one-time resource to assist in unexpected, eligible emergencies and financial hardships.
