Get Involved with WOU Involve

Your most important project at WOU is YOU!

Involve is your home for campus life at Western Oregon University. Getting involved goes beyond just attending classes. Campus experiences like joining clubs, attending events, volunteering, and participating in leadership or career programs help you build skills, meet new people, and make lasting memories.

Involve makes it easy to find these opportunities and track everything you do along the way.

Your Involve Profile

Your profile keeps all your involvement in one place. By checking in at events, those events will be added to your profile, along with any points or service hours you earn, any forms submitted through Involve, any experience quests you’ve completed, any clubs you are a member/officer of, and any co-curricular skills you developed through your involvement. Your Involve profile makes it simple to stay organized and manage your campus activities.

Co-Curricular Transcript

The Co-Curricular Transcript (CCT) is a downloadable document that showcases your involvement outside the classroom, which you can share with prospective employers. It highlights your skills, experience, quests, memberships, and service hours you’ve completed during your time at WOU. The CCT helps you communicate your campus involvement to employers, internships, and graduate programs. Just click “Share” on your Profile to download your transcript at any time.

By the Numbers

Your CCT will show the number of student organizations you were a member of, how many Experiences you completed, and how many Service Hours you performed, accrued over your entire time at WOU.

Skills

Lists the Competencies where at least one Skill level was completed

Experiences

Lists all Experiences you earn by name only. No description will be printed.

Memberships

Lists any clubs you joined and if you held an officer position. If you leave a club and rejoin later, the club will be listed twice on the CCT under different time periods.

Organizations

The Organizations page will show you a list of all active student clubs and organizations, as well as select campus departments and programs.

Some of these organizations will allow you to join right from their Involve page, but all of them will provide a way to contact their leadership if you have questions. You can also see upcoming club meetings and events.

Joining a student organization is a great way to build leadership skills, meet new people, and get involved in campus life!

Events and Activities

Stay connected with everything happening at WOU by browsing events on Involve. You’ll find campus activities, club meetings, service projects, workshops, and more. You can search events by host organization, date, host category, tags, or keywords.

Clicking an event will show you information about the event, related events, opportunities (points, experience quests, etc.), and give you
a way to contact the event host.

Service Hours and Volunteering

Use Involve to log your volunteer and community service hours for campus projects, local nonprofits, and philanthropy events. Service hours are a great way to give back, build your resume, and stay connected with service opportunities through WOU. You can even submit hours for service you complete outside of campus activities.

Go to the Events page and click the “Earn” button to search for upcoming opportunities.

Involvement Points

Checking in at events can earn you points! There are four types of points you can earn: Professional, Diversity, Leadership, and Paw Points. Most activities are worth 5 Paw Points. Some events, like resource and club fairs, are worth 1 point for every table where you check in, so those events could be worth 20-25 points or even more!

These points recognize your involvement, growth in key areas through workshops, leadership programs, cultural events, and career readiness opportunities.

The Paw Points Store

You can redeem Paw Points for exclusive WOU swag like enamel pins, lanyards, apparel, plushies, and other Paw Point prizes!

Experiences (WOU Quests)

Experiences are like achievements or quests in video games. If certain conditions like event attendance, club membership, or submission of a form are met, you earn the Experience! “Hungry Like the Wolf” can be earned by checking in at 5 or more events that are tagged “Free Food.” Or, if you are a volunteer on a campus committee or have an on-campus job, you can apply to earn experiences created just for that special involvement.

Competencies and Skills

There are certain skills that employers look for in job candidates that academic transcripts might not reflect. The “Skills” feature gives you a way to look for the skills that are most important to you, and offers some examples of the kind of involvement you can do to grow in those skill areas. For example, officers in a club could grow their competency in Leadership, Communication, Resource Management, and even Meeting Facilitation.

These competencies (groups of skills) show how your involvement is helping you grow and develop real-world skills beyond the classroom. Your most important project at WOU is YOU. Skills are like building blocks that you can use to build the YOU that you want to be.
