Military Spouses and Dependents

Military Spouses: Earn a degree online as your family serves

While a military lifestyle could require families to move across the country or overseas, Western Oregon University provides both traditional and flexible pathways towards a degree that can work with your busy lifestyle. At WOU, we believe that dependents serve alongside their servicemembers and as such, you deserve a high-quality education regardless of where a military lifestyle may lead you.

Whether your spouse has completed a transfer of education benefits to you or your spouse is a disabled veteran, granting you Chapter 35 benefits, we are here to help you get those benefits processed. Military spouses who utilize military education benefits may also be eligible for additional funding under the Department of Defense MyCAA (Military spouse Career Advancement Accounts) program. Also, there is an additional benefit called the Veterans Dependent Tuition Waiver that certain students may qualify for.

You have always been there for your service member, let us be there for you!

We completely understand how difficult it can be to balance your academic life with the demands of service life such as relocations, family obligations, and managing the home while your service member is away.  In fact, many of our current students have experienced similar situations and learned how to thrive at Western Oregon University all the same. This is why we assign peer advisors, who are upperclassmen that have walked a mile in your shoes and are happy to share their lived experience and the tips and tricks they have picked up along the way.
