Beth Scroggins

Education, Certifications, and Specializations: I graduated with a bachelors degree in Psychology/Sociology and a Masters’ degree in Agency Counseling from Southern Arkansas University. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with the Oregon Board of Licensed Professional Counselors and Therapists.

What do you like best about working at WOU? One of the things I like best about WOU is how much effort from the whole campus community is put into making sure each student has the opportunity to be successful as a college student.

What are your hobbies/interests? I enjoy reading, baking, and playing board games.

Favorites: So of course I love the Arkansas Razorbacks (Go Hogs!), but also root for the WOU Wolves! My favorite color is green and my favorite food is anything sweet.

What is something unique about you? I am just a pretty typical person- with a love of sarcasm and humor.

Miguel Gonzalez

What I love about working at WOU: I embrace the diversity that Western Oregon offers. I enjoy that I get the opportunity to collaborate with other employees/departments to help make WOU more successful for our students.

Hobbies/Interests: I enjoy sports, outdoors, culture and pets.

Job Title: Mental Health Counselor

Degrees: BS degree in Health Promotion and Health Behavior from Oregon State University. MA degree in Mental Health Counseling from George Fox University. I am an registered intern through the Oregon Board of Licensed Professional Counselors and Therapists, as well as a National Certified Counselor.

What I love about working at Western is being able to walk with students through collegiate life and the community involvement across campus.

Outside of work, my extra time is spent singing, cooking, and watching sports – Go Blazers!

One piece of advice for students is to take the time to explore different interests, ask questions, and be brave!

What I love about working at WOU: I love working in a small campus atmosphere with the ability to strongly make community connections. I love working with students in higher academics and being a part of change and growth.

Hobbies/Interests: Walking, yoga, spending time outdoors, animals, reading, Portland Timbers/Thorns soccer, time with family and friends.

What I love about working at WOU Working with the diverse and passionate student base at WOU is rewarding and enriching. I am proud to work at an institution that prioritizes the multi-dimensional well-being of its students and attracts compassionate and dedicated employees.

Hobbies/Interests As an Oregonian, the great outdoors and all things animals are appealing. Throw in some reading, a baked good, and a cat to pet and it’s a day well spent.
