Applications may be submitted at any time, although the program usually fills to capacity during July. Acceptances will be sent on a rolling basis.
Students
Current High School Students
Applicants are considered for admission on the basis of their high school grade point average plus a activities/leadership resume. SAT/ACT scores are no longer required. No one is a “walking number” in Honors. The activities/leadership resume is the most important section of the application.
Applications are accepted until the program fills to capacity, which usually occurs in late July, after WOU’s summer onboarding (P.A.C.K.) dates.
Current WOU or Transfer Students
The Honors Program requires three years to complete.
It is incompatible with any programs that require students to transfer for their junior/senior year (pre-nursing) or have a separate liberal arts track (Bachelor of Music degrees). Depending on credits, transfer or current students who expect to be at WOU for three years can be admitted.
Because the Honors Program is an alternate General Education pathway, students with a complete associate’s (AAOT) degree should not apply (because they have already satisfied those requirements).
