Dr. David Foster

Western Oregon University Faculty

Dr. David Foster joined the faculty of Western Oregon University in 1999 and currently serves as a professor in the Department of Psychological Sciences, Director of the Creativity Research Lab, and Program Coordinator for WOU’s new Organizational Leadership program. His areas of academic specialization include creativity, leadership, teamwork, and group decision making. His current research focuses on measuring creativity using a variety of techniques. One of his projects involves the development and application of a self-report measure of creative behavior. A second project involves identifying language usage patterns associated with creative behavior to facilitate measuring creativity outside of the laboratory. His work experience as a Psychologist includes facilitating organizational development for various Federal Government agencies as an internal consultant with the Office of Personnel Management. Dr. Foster is a former neonatal respiratory therapist and obtained his Ph.D. in Industrial/Organizational Psychology from The George Washington University.

Western Oregon University’s Land Acknowledgement
Western Oregon University in Monmouth, OR is located within the traditional homelands of the Luckiamute Band of Kalapuya. Following the Willamette Valley Treaty of 1855 (Kalapuya etc. Treaty), Kalapuya people were forcibly removed to reservations in Western Oregon. Today, living descendants of these people are a part of the Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde Community of Oregon and the Confederated Tribes of the Siletz Indians.
