Learning Outcomes and Course Goals

Undergraduate Learning Outcomes

The Undergraduate Learning Outcomes are demonstrable statements of what students know, are, or can do upon completion of a WOU undergraduate degree.

Undergraduate Learning Outcomes

Faculty-generated recommendations to engage students with exploration of learning outcomes

Graduate Learning Outcomes

The Graduate Learning Outcomes are demonstrable statements of what students know, are, or can do upon completion of a WOU graduate degree.

Graduate Learning Outcomes

General Education Learning Outcomes

Demonstrable student learning outcomes in the General Education Program that can be determined either quantitatively or qualitatively.

General Education Learning Outcomes

Program Outcomes

Every academic program has student learning outcomes, what students know, are, or can do upon completion of the major or program.

Program Learning Outcomes

Course Goals

Course Goals are course-level student learning outcomes. They are statements of what students know, are, or can do by the end of a specific course. Whether or not students meet the Course Goals should be able to be measured quantitively or qualitatively. Course goals should inform one or more Program Learning Outcome and Undergraduate Learning Outcome and/or General Education Learning Outcome as applicable.

Use this link to look up course goals. You can also see how the course goals align to Program, Undergraduate, Graduate, and General Education Learning Outcomes.

Use this link to watch a video on how to identify courses with missing Course Goals and how to create new Course Goals!
