Joined the board because…

I believe in the power of dance and music to inspire, reflect and transform our world. Smith Fine Arts has been providing arts engagement and programming to the greater Willamette valley for 40+ years and I want to be part of that creative infusion in our community. Additionally, I am very interested in strengthening and deepening the relationship between the SFAS, the Creative Arts Division, and the Western Oregon University as a whole. As the head of the dance program at WOU I am committed to forging relationships and making connections between our students and the amazing artists SFAS is able to bring to campus.

Most Memorable SFAS Show

I remember dancing in the isles during the Las Cafeteras performance. My wife and I had to purchase the audio CD’s that were on sale in the lobby after the performance and now we continue to dance in our living room to those captivating rhythms—to the chagrin of our kids—but I know they love the music too!

Additional Interests

Some things I love to do are: Playing with and being a dad to my 5 kiddos, going for hikes in the Columbia River Gorge, spending time at the beach, choreographing dances, seeing performances, writing poetry, doing martial arts, engagement in entrepreneurship, and sipping wine with friends.
