Livestream Talk & Tunes with Alex Hargreaves

Livestream Talk & Tunes
with violin virtuoso
ALEX HARGREAVES
interviewed by Dr. Dirk Freymuth
Sat, April 10, 2021
7:00 pm PST

Based in Brooklyn but originally from Corvallis, virtuosic violinist and fiddler Alex Hargreaves has toured with musical greats including Jerry Douglas, David Grisman, and Bela Fleck. Hargreaves is no stranger to the Smith Fine Arts Series – he’s been onstage the last two seasons, with Sam Reider and The Human Hands in 2019 and the Jacob Jolliff Band in 2018. Hargreaves is an experienced music educator, currently on faculty at The New School in NYC. His father is a professor at Western Oregon University.

Join us live as Dirk Freymuth talks with Alex Hargreaves about life as a musician and teacher in the time of COVID, his local roots and musical family, and what he’s been up to in Nashville lately. Get to know the man behind the fiddle while enjoying some spontaneous tunes. Have any burning questions? Register before April 2 and you’ll have the chance to submit those in advance.

Dr. Freymuth is an Associate Professor of Music at WOU, a professional musician, member of the Smith Fine Arts Series board, and booking liaison for SFAS.
