HISTORY ALUM ALLAN EMMONS

“I graduated from Western as a History Major in 2017. I work at the Oregon State Archives helping to preserve the historically and legally significant documents produced by the State of Oregon and its counties. My work entails fulfilling requests for documents and digitizing them so they can be publicly accessed online. The historical research I conducted during my time at Western prepared me to conduct research to find the more obscure records from the Archives collection to provide to members of the public.”

“I’ve enjoyed significant success at my job by (amongst other things) consciously focusing on those skills that I learned as an undergrad at Western (how to effectively research, how to approach data bases, how to correlate disparate data, etc.)”
