Charles and Sylvia ALVA Scholarship in Linguistics Studies
Each applicant must meet the following elements:
- Upper division student
- Focused area of study will be English linguistics
- This includes:
- English majors with a Linguistics concentration
- Linguistics minors
- Students seeking a TEFL certification
- Humanities majors with a Linguistics focus
- Language arts education majors (Secondary/middle-high school language arts teaching)
- This includes:
Preferences: Applicants with a desire to teach English in secondary schools
David & Dennis Eddings Scholarship in Literature & Writing
Each applicant must meet the following elements:
- Be a prospective or current full-time student at Western Oregon University
- Have an earned grade point average (GPA) in the major of 3.5 or higher
- Have academic standing of sophomore or higher in 2015-2016
- Have a declared major in Literature, Writing, or Language Arts
R.S. Baker Memorial Scholarship
Each applicant must meet the following elements:
- Be a prospective or current full-time student at Western Oregon University
- Be age 24 or older
- Have an earned grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 or higher
- Have a declared major in the Humanities [Communication Studies, English Studies—any concentration, German Studies, Humanities, Philosophy, Spanish]
Leonard W. Rice Memorial Scholarship
Each applicant must meet the following elements:
- Be a senior at Western Oregon University
- Have a declared major in the Humanities [Communication Studies; English – Literature, Linguistics, Writing; German; Humanities; Philosophy; Spanish]
- FAFSA and WOU General Scholarship application, only, are required
