The mission of the Campus Public Safety Department of Western Oregon University is to engender a sense of safety and security by providing an environment in which students, faculty, staff, and visitors can learn, work, and live. WOU Campus Public Safety provides patrol services to the University on a 24/7 basis.
The purpose of the Western Oregon University’s CARE Team is to assess, discuss, and recommend the intervention to the appropriate campus departments, divisions or persons in response to significant campus situations and events such as: issues of bias, student death or significant trauma, problematic student situations involving medical or psychological concerns, and campus emergency situations that directly affect the well-being of students and the campus community at large. Use this form for reporting any situation where you are concerned about a student relative to their mental state or well being; disruptive or inappropriate behaviors in the classroom or on campus; or any time you believe student poses a threat to themselves or others.
Green DotThe Green Dot Program at WOU offers training and education that aims to reduce power-based personal violence through bystander intervention. Green Dot is part of the WOU Wellness Education program in the Student Health and Counseling Center. Food PantryThe WOU food pantry is dedicated to fighting on-campus food insecurity. They have a physical location to collect food from and can also provide assistance with signing up for SNAP or receiving funds to use at Waremart or Valsetz DIning Hall.
Office of Student Conduct(503) 838-8311As part of The Division of Student Affairs, The Office of Student conduct handles violations of the Code of Student Responsibility. The office is located within the Office of University Housing in Ackerman Hall.
Pregnancy and Parenting SupportIf you are pregnant and/or parenting student needing to take a leave of absence or are experiencing discrimination, contact the university’s Title IX Coordinator Judy Vanderburg at 503-838-8490 or vanderj@wou.edu. The university is obligated under federal guidelines of Title IX to offer accommodations to pregnant and parenting students so that they may have a positive and equitable educational experience. Student Health and Counseling Center(503) 838-8313The Student Health and Counseling Center at WOU provides medical care, sexual health services, mental health counseling, wellness education, prevention, and referral services to WOU students who are assessed the Health Fee. Students taking 1+ credit of in-person classes on the Monmouth campus are automatically assessed the health fee ($145 per term). All other registered students may choose to opt-in to have the fee assessed to their student account.
Veteran’s Resource Center(503) 838-9246Located in Werner University Center Room 108, the Veteran Success Center offers comfortable lounge space, access to events, workshops, mentors, and tutors, as well as opportunities to get connected with peers through our chapter of the Student Veteran’s of America.
