  • SOC 328 Introduction to Social Data Analysis Credits: 4
  • SOC 370 Sociological Theory Credits: 4
  • SOC 495 Senior Capstone Credits: 4

  • Social Justice Concentration
  • Social Work Concentration
  • Elective Courses in Sociology – (no concentration, 36 Credits)

Most elective courses will be selected from the Sociology course list. However, the Sociology Department encourages the development of interdisciplinary specialties within the Sociology major. With permission, Sociology majors may use courses from other disciplines to fulfill electives. See Sociology advisor.

Western Oregon University’s Land Acknowledgement
Western Oregon University in Monmouth, OR is located within the traditional homelands of the Luckiamute Band of Kalapuya. Following the Willamette Valley Treaty of 1855 (Kalapuya etc. Treaty), Kalapuya people were forcibly removed to reservations in Western Oregon. Today, living descendants of these people are a part of the Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde Community of Oregon and the Confederated Tribes of the Siletz Indians.
