Arriving Employee

Welcome

Welcome to employment with Western Oregon University. We look forward to working with you! Below you will find New Employee Paperwork, Benefits Information, and some helpful links as a new employee at WOU. If you have questions please feel free to contact us!

New Hire Paperwork

All new employees will need to fill out payroll paperwork through the Human Resources Office. The paperwork can be picked up in the Human Resources Office (Admin 306) or found on our forms page under New Employee Paperwork & On-Boarding Resources. The paperwork must be returned to the Human Resources Office on or before your first day of work. Important: All employees must have their original identification document(s) examined in-person by an authorized representative as part of the I-9 form completion (some examples of valid forms of identification include: passport or current driver’s license and social security card). Please see the I-9 Form for a full list of acceptable documents. The I-9 form and ID verification can be completed off-site with a Reciprocal Institution (contact Human Resources for more information) or a Notary.

All paperwork must be filled out prior to an employee receiving e-mail and computer access. New employees must fill out paperwork prior to being paid. If a degree was required for the position, an “official” copy of transcripts must be submitted to our office at the time of hire.

New Benefit Eligible Employees

Employees scheduled to work more than 90 days at .50 FTE or more are eligible for benefits. Newly benefit-eligible employees may now enroll for benefits through their Portal online! Please see our New Employee Benefits Information Page for detailed information.

Faculty/Staff ID Cards

Photos for ID Cards for faculty and staff are taken in the Human Resources Office (Admin 306). ID card photos will be taken any time after the New Hire Paperwork is returned to our office.

New Employee Orientation

All new staff working above .50 FTE are required to attend the New Employee Orientation facilitated by the Human Resources Office. New employees will receive an invitation to the New Employee Orientation through campus mail.
