Getting started as an Employee
New Hire Paperwork
All new employees will need to fill out payroll paperwork through the Human Resources Office. The paperwork can be picked up in the Human Resources Office (Admin 306) or found on our forms page under New Employee Forms & Resources.
If a degree is required for the position, an “official” copy of transcripts must be submitted to our office.
All paperwork must be filled out prior to an employee receiving e-mail, computer access or being paid.
Paperwork must be returned to the Human Resources Office on or before your first day of work.

Employment Eligibility Verification
Important: All employees must have their original identification document(s) examined in-person by an authorized representative as part of the I-9 form completion. Please see the I-9 Form for a full list of acceptable identification documents.
The I-9 form and ID verification can be completed off-site with a Reciprocal Institution (contact Human Resources for more information).

DUO Setup
Western Oregon University has implemented DUO, a two factor authentication tool. All employees are required to setup DOU. Follow the step-by-step guide to setup DOU.

Computer Access Request
Request submission needs to be made by Direct Supervisor and limited approvals/ circumstantial.

New Benefit Eligible Employees
Employees scheduled to work more than 90 days at .50 FTE or more are eligible for benefits. Newly benefit-eligible employees may now enroll for benefits through their Portal online!

New Employee Orientation
All new staff working above .50 FTE are required to attend the New Employee Orientation facilitated by the Human Resources Office.
New employees will receive an invitation to the New Employee Orientation through campus email.
Faculty/Staff ID Cards
Once new hire paperwork is submitted, email hr@wou.edu to request a WOU ID. Include an uncropped photo, full name, and department. Requests can be made in person at the HR Office.
Our office will email once the ID has been printed and is ready to be picked up. To pick-up bring valid photo ID.
Surrounding Area
The university is located in an increasingly diverse, bilingual, and rural area in the Willamette Valley. The campus is about 20 minutes from Salem, the state’s capital, about 75 minutes from Portland, the state’s cultural hub, and a short drive from the Oregon coast, mountains, and other scenic areas.
