Linda Herrera

Owner, Atala Consulting

Linda Herrera is the owner of Atala Consulting, where she works as a diversity, equity and inclusion consultant as well as a small-business coach. Herrera brings 30 years of experience in higher education to the WOU board. Linda has also served as an advisor through the Mexican Consulate of Portland and the Secretary of Education of Mexico with a focus on education. She has dedicated her career to supporting programs and communities who serve individuals of diverse cultural, social, economic and educational backgrounds. In addition to her role on WOU’s Board of Trustees, she serves on the Higher Education Coordinating Commission workgroup for the Talent, Innovation, and Equity (TIE) partnership, Chemeketa Community College Foundation board and as an advisor for Faces of America. In 2019, she received the Most Influential Latina award. Herrera earned her master’s in education from Concordia University, a bachelor’s from Eastern Oregon University.

Western Oregon University’s Land Acknowledgement
Western Oregon University in Monmouth, OR is located within the traditional homelands of the Luckiamute Band of Kalapuya. Following the Willamette Valley Treaty of 1855 (Kalapuya etc. Treaty), Kalapuya people were forcibly removed to reservations in Western Oregon. Today, living descendants of these people are a part of the Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde Community of Oregon and the Confederated Tribes of the Siletz Indians.
