Guadalupe “Lupe” Diaz graduated from WOU with a degree in Political Science in 2002 and brings nearly 20 years of business experience to the board. Diaz has worked in the financial services and insurance industries since 2005, and prior to that, worked to register Latinx voters with the Oregon Latino Registration Education Project. Diaz is grateful for the opportunities WOU provided to him as a student and he is committed to bringing those same advantages and pathways to other students at Western.

Western Oregon University in Monmouth, OR is located within the traditional homelands of the Luckiamute Band of Kalapuya. Following the Willamette Valley Treaty of 1855 (Kalapuya etc. Treaty), Kalapuya people were forcibly removed to reservations in Western Oregon. Today, living descendants of these people are a part of the Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde Community of Oregon and the Confederated Tribes of the Siletz Indians.
