Global Care Business Operations Manager, T-Mobile’s Experience Center

Cristian Mendez-Garcia Immigrated from Mexico in the early 1990s to the Monmouth-Independence community. He attended Central School District 13J and then went on to graduate from Western Oregon University in 2008 with an Art Major with an emphasis on Graphic Design and Fine Art Photography. The son of Migrant workers, he knew the value of pursuing education to open up opportunities for a better quality of life. After graduating from WOU, he entered the business sector where he became a Business Operations Manager for T-Mobile and gained insights into strategic planning and project management. He also served as Chapter Chair for T-Mobile’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion efforts for the Oregon region. Mendez-Garcia understands the importance of WOU becoming a Hispanic Serving Institution and the power of communication between diverse groups to improve the community and build bridges for a better future. Before joining the WOU Board of Trustees, Mendez-Garcia was a member of the Western Oregon University Foundation Board. As a Mexican-born artist, he is working to contribute to his community by representing Hispanic heritage through his photography.
