Major: English & Dance
Citation Specialty: MLA

Hi! My name is Abbi, I use she/her pronouns, and I’m currently a sophomore double majoring in English and Dance with a minor in Entrepreneurship. I hope to either become an editor (or something similar in the publishing industry) or open a small dance studio. I’m also on the dance team here at WOU! In my free time I love to read, bake, and play board and card games. You’ll also catch me re-watching my comfort show Friends a lot. One of my favorite things about working at the Writing Center is hearing everyone’s unique voice in their writing. I’m so excited to meet everyone coming in!

Smiling young man.

Aidan Korff (he/him)

Writing Consultant
Major: Psychology

Hello there! I’m Aidan (he/him), I’m currently a junior here at WOU, I’m a Psych Major, and I’m Catholic. I want to pursue a career in counseling, and I’ve also gained a serious love for creative writing of most varieties. I’ve become particularly suited to poetry and short stories most recently, and my ultimate dream is to be an author. I can help you keep your vision clear and your voice strong in your writing. My own writing is a massively positive force in my life, and I want to help others realize that for themselves!

Alexia Mial (she/they/any)

Writing Consultant
Major: Education (Middle/High School ELA)

Hello there! My name is Alexia (she/they) and I am currently a freshman here at WOU! I plan to teach middle/high English language arts as soon as I graduate, and will pursue my masters sometime after that. I’ve always had a passion for all things reading and writing, specifically in areas with punctuation and grammar, and I will happily apply these skills to be a great tutor for the WOU community, and eventually a published author. I hope to learn so much more about literature and composition while I am here with both my coworkers and those that I help with their writing! I currently live off campus with my partner, two roommates, and three lovely cats! I am originally from McMinnville, OR (just about 38 minutes north), but am now happy to call Monmouth my home.

I love working on creative writing projects and poetry, but I also love literary analysis and research papers! I’m passionate about helping students across disciplines to enjoy and understand the writing process!

I’ve worked at the Writing Center for two years, and I am an RA in Ackerman Hall! I love writing poetry, and I am also working (slowly) on a novel. I am from California and Georgia, and I have three sweet dogs who live in Georgia with my mom. I am a huge Shakespeare nerd; I am currently writing my thesis for the Honors program on Twelfth Night! My passion is to unjumble the thoughts of students I work with and to unlock the creativity that I know everyone has within them.

Cole (any/all)

Writing Consultant
Major: Forensic Chemistry
Minor: Theatre
Hello! I’m Cole, I use any pronouns, and I’m a freshman here at WOU. I’m a Forensic Chemistry major, with a minor in Theater. I took all of my writing credits in high school, so all of my writing now is just as a hobby. I have a passion for writing, and while I usually write novels, sometimes I find myself creating essays or slideshows over topics I’m passionate about for fun. One of the things that helps me the most when writing is getting advice and proof-readings from peers. I’d love to be the person to give that to others, to help them excel in their writing ability and start to appreciate how enjoyable writing can really be.

Forest (they/them)

Writing Consultant
Major: Psychology
Minor: Sustainability

Hey! I’m Forest (they/them), and I am a Senior psychology major at WOU with a minor in writing and a minor in sustainability. I write lots of academic papers for my classes, but when writing for fun I tend to write creative fiction/fantasy short stories. After I graduate from Western I will be working on my Masters in mental health counseling. In my free time I like reading, playing video games, and baking, among many other hobbies. The thing I enjoy most about working at the Writing Center is when I get to work with someone multiple times and see their writing skills improve.

Hannah

Writing Consultant
Major: Education (middle/high social studies)

Hello! My name is Hannah, and I am a second-year education major with a focus in middle/high social studies. I am also a student in the Honors Program, a member of WOU’s Model United Nations, and our Phi Alpha Theta National History Honor Society. I have long had a passion for history, language, and culture, which are the subjects that landed me in education. A lesser-known trait of mine is that I also have a passion for writing, and I take great pride in my work. I love helping others with their work, and I also like giving people confidence in their work!

Jasper (he/him)

Lead Tutor
B.A. English Writing / Humanities Minor
Citation Specialty: APA & MLA

Hi! I’m Jasper (he/him). I have a B.A. in English, which means Kung Fu Panda makes me cry. I’ve tutored undergrad and graduate students at the Writing Center for three years, specializing in creative assignments and my trademark brand of frenzied brainstorming. In my spare time, I write free verse poetry. In fact, everyone likes it so much that I’m getting a Master’s for it at the University of Idaho. In the meantime, I partake in nerdy activities like D&D, MTG, and copious amounts of non-fiction reading and arthouse films. What I love most about the Writing Center is learning and/or discussing new things with students. So drop on by, and let’s nerd out!

Jordan (he/him)

Writing Consultant
Major: Education (Language Arts)
Minor: English

Sup! My name is Jordan (He/Him), and I like to party—this is a Hot Rod reference (2007), so if you get it then you’re all right by my books. I major in Education with a focus in Language Arts; I am also working towards a minor in English and a certificate to teach English abroad! Right now, I’m the only Linguistics and ESL tutor, so my knowledge of English isn’t constricted to how well an essay can be written! I have two cats: Rogue and Paladin. Yes, their names are based on D&D classes; and yes, I would love to talk about Star Wars. In regards to writing, I welcome anyone who needs help with generating ideas, formulating an outline, or proofreading!

Lilly (she/her)

Writing Consultant
Major: ASL Interpreting, English Studies
Citation Specialty: APA

Hello! I’m Lilly (she/her). I’m majoring in ASL interpreting and English Studies, I also have a minor in writing. I enjoy reading, writing, playing video games, and spending time with my wonderful cat. I plan on pursuing my masters in interpreting after aquiring my B.S, so I’ll be here at WOU for awhile longer. I’ve worked at the writing center for about a year now, and I absolutely love working with other students. It’s tons of fun to meet with my peers and see their assignments take shape. I tend to specialize in APA formatting and research papers, though I love working with all kinds of writing. I hope I can assist you in the future!

Noel (she/her)

Writing Intern
Major: Art and Design
Minor: Writing, Spanish
Citation Specialty: MLA

Hi! I’m Noel (she/her), an Art and Design major with minors in Writing and Spanish. I enjoy creative writing, photography, and animation—whether I’m watching it or trying to make it myself. When I’m not working on a project, I’m probably taking a long walk (preferably near a beach) or getting distracted by something oddly specific. I love helping people find their voice on the page, whether that means brainstorming, organizing ideas, or figuring out how to say exactly what you mean. Writing can be tough, but it’s also a space for creativity—and I’m here to help however I can!

Minors: ASL, Early Childhood

Hello! My name is Sarah and I am a Freshman majoring in Psychology and minoring in American Sign Language and Early Childhood. I am still exploring future career options, looking to help young children from a psychological perspective; whether that be counseling, social work, etc. I am excited to see where this path leads! I enjoy many creative activities, such as photography, dance, crochet and cross stitch. Writing has always been a fond hobby of mine and helping people improve their own writing is something that I’m passionate about. I’m excited to meet you!

Tessa (she/her)

Writing Intern
Major: Communications
Minor: Psychology
Citation Specialty: APA

Hi! My name is Tessa (she/her), and I am a sophomore at WOU majoring in Communications with a minor in Psychology. I hope to pursue a career as a Public Relations Specialist, but my dream is to one day open a record store (I’m a huge vinyl nerd!). In my free time, I love going to concerts, whether it’s a big show or a small house performance. Overall, I’m a big geek at heart; whether it’s books, music, or movies, there’s always something I’m excited to geek out about. One of my favorite parts of working at the Writing Center is the variety of assignments students bring in. Not only do I get to support them through their learning process, but I also end up learning something new every shift!

With love, we remember Kevin Bontrager and Sean Vile.
