Yeah it was quite beautiful! We didn’t get to spend a lot of time there because mass was happening while we were there and I didnt get a lot of info. We got a short history of la Negrita or “The little black one” which is a costa rican version of the virgin mary. It was brought over so that the local people would be able to relate better and help convert them to catholicism. Theres more to the story but its a bit confusing. When we were actually at the church it is disrespectful to talk in english so the amount that we were able to understand was quite limited.
The interior is as interesting and exquisite as the exterior. When you have a chance tell us more about this beautiful building. Michele
