On my eighth week here, the international program took us on a trip to York and the North of England for a weekend trip. The bus ride was very very long and it seemed like it would never end but eventually it did and it was actually a beautiful day in York. The sun was out and we wandered around the city for several hours. We toured the cathedral, shopped in the market, and even got some French crêpes! That evening we all headed to our hostel for the night which most of us were a little uneasy about since we’d never stayed at one before. However, the hostel ended up being really nice and nothing to worry about at all. I’m just afraid it has given me high expectations for all hostels now. But it was fun, we all went out to a pub for dinner and drinks that night and crashed early after such a long day. The next day we had to be out by 8 am. We got back in the coach and drove for hours to the fountains abbey. This was amazing! It was an old abandoned abbey that had been shut down by king Henry VIII after the reformation. It was all in ruins but made for really cool pictures! Then we went to Hardwick Hall but couldn’t enjoy it too much because the weather has turned awful. Still, it was very beautiful. Finally, we headed home. It really felt like we were on the bus for days but eventually we made it back home.
