2019-2020 Process Schedule

[section=September 19 & 25, 2019: Budget proposal workshops on UBAC process]

UBAC members discuss the proposal process for this year, specifically Phase I proposals.

[section=January 13, 2020: Phase I proposals due 5pm]

Anyone can submit a proposal for an idea aligned to the President’s budgetary priorities:

      • making WOU a Hispanic Serving Institution
      • growing enrollment (i.e., attracting new students);
      • improving retention (i.e., keeping the students we already have); and
      • making WOU the most affordable public university in Oregon.

[section=January – February 2020: Proposal review]

The UBAC and President’s Cabinet review the Phase I proposals.

The UBAC will use this rubric when evaluating proposals.

[section=February 13, 2020: UBAC recommendations on Phase I]

The UBAC finishes the proposal review and prepares a memo to send to the President.

[section=March 6, 2020: Phase I decision letters]

The President decides which proposals will continue on to Phase II and sends decision to proposers.

[section=March 12, 2020 1pm: Phase II Workshop]

The UBAC will host a workshop for Phase II proposers on the next phase of the process.

All Phase II proposers will fill out this Phase II form (preview of form coming soon), to include this budget worksheet and assessment worksheet.

All Phase II proposers should meet with Camarie Moreno when filling out the budget worksheet.

[section=April 3, 2020: Phase II Proposals due 5pm]

A submission link will be provided to proposers.

[section=April 16, 2020: Phase II Campus Presentations (times TBD)]

All Phase II proposers will give a presentation to UBAC and the President’s cabinet.

Presentations are open to the campus and will be recorded.

The UBAC and President’s Cabinet review the Phase II proposals.

The UBAC will use this rubric when evaluating proposals.

[section=May 1, 2020: UBAC recommendations on Phase II]

The UBAC finishes the proposal review and prepares a memo to send to the President.

[section=May 22, 2020: Phase II decision letters]

The President communicates his final decisions on proposals.

[section=June 10, 2020: Board of Trustees (BOT) decision on budget for 2020-21]

The proposed budget for AY 2020-21 is submitted to the BOT for approval.

Western Oregon University’s Land Acknowledgement
Western Oregon University in Monmouth, OR is located within the traditional homelands of the Luckiamute Band of Kalapuya. Following the Willamette Valley Treaty of 1855 (Kalapuya etc. Treaty), Kalapuya people were forcibly removed to reservations in Western Oregon. Today, living descendants of these people are a part of the Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde Community of Oregon and the Confederated Tribes of the Siletz Indians.
