Megan Habermann-Guthrie

She/Her/Hers
Director, New Student & Family Programs

Megan earned her Bachelor of Science in Communication Studies from the University of Wisconsin – Green Bay and her Master of Science in College Student Personnel from the University of Rhode Island. She previously worked in the Campus Activities Office at Vassar College and has been at Western since 2009. Megan’s favorite part of working with new students is the fresh perspectives and energy they bring to our campus!

Shelby Worthing

She/Her/Hers
Assistant Director, New Student & Family Programs

Shelby earned her Bachelor of Science in Economics from Western Oregon University and has been at Western since 2017. Shelby’s favorite part of working with new students is watching them make new friends, grow as adults, and make WOU their new home away from home. Her favorite orientation activity is the Variety Show, watching all of the new students show off their talents and find similar interests!

Coordinator, New Student & Family Programs

TJ earned his Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from Western Oregon University in 2022. During his time as a student at WOU, he worked in various positions on campus in student affairs with the New Student and Family Programs department, residence life as a resident assistant, and academic affairs as a math tutor. TJ’s favorite part of working with new students is helping them establish and build independence, and seeing them make connections!

Amy Valencia

Administrative Program Specialist, New Student & Family Programs and Student Engagement

Amy graduated from WOU back in the old days with a degree in Psychology. She stayed in the area to raise her family and always wanted to come back to work for WOU. Her husband is also a WOU alum and she has 2 kids that are now college age. Her favorite part of working for WOU so far is being able to catch a baseball game during her lunch and meeting all the great students that attend.

Johnny Martinez-Isaac

He/Him/His
Co-Coordinator, Destination Western

Johnny is a junior at Western studying a major in Middle/High School Education with a focus on Physical Education and a certificate in ESOL. Along with Destination Western, he is also a head coach at Oregon Valley Fútbol Alliance and is a member of the Western Oregon Men’s Soccer team. Johnny’s favorite part of working with new students is meeting new people and acting as a helping hand during their transition to Western!

Ana-Malia Fernandez

Co-Coordinator, Destination Western

Malia is a sophomore at WOU, double majoring in Psychology and Gerontology. Along with Destination Western, she also serves as the Campus Advocate for the Multicultural Student Union and one of the Co-Directors for the Freedom Center. Malia’s favorite part of working with new students is creating valuable connections and assisting students with their transition to life here at Western.

Quinn Ridder

Co-Coordinator, WOU Crew

Quinn is a junior at WOU studying a major in Business with a minor in Entrepreneurship and a concentration in Management. Along with WOU Crew, she also serves as a Campus Ambassador and the Marketing Specialist for Campus Recreation. Her favorite part of working with new students is meeting new people and sharing all the cool things Western has!

Osmar Rodriguez Piza

Co-Coordinator, WOU Crew

Osmar is a 5th year at Western majoring in Social Science. He plans to get his masters degree in Organizational Leadership also at Western. Along with Destination Western and WOU Crew, he’s also worked as an RA and the Assistant Director of Activities for SAB. Osmar’s favorite part of working with new students is meeting first-generation students and helping them get their footing in their transition to higher education.

Chris Solario

Director, Student Enrichment Program

Chris earned his Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from Western Oregon University, along with his Masters of Arts in Sociology and Master of Science in Education from Portland State University. He has been at Western since 2012. Chris’ favorite part of working with new students is helping them feel comfortable navigating WOU and succeeding in their education journey, from the first time they step on campus until they graduate!

Adrian Trujillo

Interim Assistant Director, Student Enrichment Program

Adrian graduated from Oregon State University with a Bachelor of Science in Human Development and Family Science as a first-generation student and a Non-Traditional Student. Adrian is also a Transfer student from Chemeketa and has earned a Master of Science in Educational Leadership and Policy. Prior to joining SEP, Adrian worked as the Bilingual Academic Success Advisor for WOU working with students from all backgrounds. Navigating through transactional advising sessions sparked Adrian’s passion for holistic student support and providing a real connection with students.

Alicia Monrroy

Educational Advisor, Student Enrichment Program

Alicia graduated from Western Oregon University in June of 2007 with a Bachelor’s degree in Social Science. She joined the SEP staff in September of 2007 as an Educational Advisor. As a former Upward Bound and SEP/SSS graduate, she is passionate about helping students succeed. Alicia enjoys spending time with family and friends, listening to music and traveling.

Andres Hernandez-Galvan

He/Him/His & They/Them/Theirs
Educational Advisor, Student Enrichment Program

Andres earned his Bachelors degree in Interdisciplinary Studies with a focus in Education, Social Studies, and Humanities from Western Oregon University. He has been at Western since 2022. Andres’s favorite part of working with new students is helping ease their anxiety of being in college. As a first year college student himself, he felt alone at times and didn’t know what he was doing. Thankfully, he was able to connect with resources that were there to help him. He wants to be that resource for others and he enjoys being there for those who need a little extra help.

Dana Nuñez-Silva

Educational Advisor, Student Enrichment Program

Dana earned her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Family and Human Services from the University of Oregon. She has been at Western since 2022. Dana knows that transitioning into college can be a really exciting, nerve racking, and chaotic time. Serving as a home base and talking about resources she wishes she knew as an incoming student has been her favorite part of working with new students. She is looking forward to being a holistic support, as it is important to reduce the anxieties a new student may feel when starting this exciting chapter.

Sheree earned her Bachelor of Science in Business from Western Oregon University. She has been at Western since 2007. Sheree’s favorite part of working with new students is just being a part of their journey — watching them grow and change throughout their first year!

Alejandro (Alex) Gonzalez

Bilingual Educational Advisor, Teacher Prep Student Support Services

Alex earned his Bachelor of Arts in Spanish from Oregon State University. He has been with western since 2022. Alex’s favorite part of working with new students is helping guide them through their career paths. Seeing them succeed is such a rewarding experience for him!

Amber Logan

Educational Advisor, Teacher Prep Student Support Services

Amber was born in Texas but grew up in sunny Arizona before moving to Oregon with her husband in 2013. She has a B.S. in Kinesiology and an M.Ed. in Education, both from Arizona State University. Before joining the WOU family, she taught for 7 years as a Special Educator and then switched it up to a third grade classroom in Albany for the last 5 years. She is thrilled to support future teachers in obtaining their degrees and look forward to working with you!

Louie Arce

Louie earned his Bachelor of Arts in Communications from Western Oregon University. He has been at Western since 2022. Louie’s favorite part of working with new students is seeing them learn about all the resources and opportunities here on campus built to help them succeed, and hearing about all the networking they do during Welcome Week!

Blanca Miranda Aguilar

Program Advisor & Coordinator, Multicultural Student Services and Programs

Blanca earned her Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies with a focus on Education and Social Sciences from Western Oregon University. She has been at Western since 2021. Blanca’s favorite part of working with new students is helping them network and see how much potential they have!

Mika Hui

Academic Success Advisor, Student Success and Advising

Mika is a WOU alumnus and comes from a family of past and future WOU alumni. She graduated here in 2020 with a Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies. She is working on her Master of Science in the PACE program at PSU presently. She is an Academic Success Advisor for SSA currently, but she started as the office’s intern during Summer 2022.

Kennedy Schade

Academic Success/Transfer Advisor, Student Success and Advising

“Kennedy is originally from Colorado where he received his B.A. and M.A. in Communication Studies from Colorado State University. He previously taught Public Speaking at Front Range Community College and also has formal training in Public Deliberation. Kennedy’s biggest passion is helping students access tools and resources to unlock their best selves! His favorite part about advising new students is getting to learn their stories and all the cool things they have done that eventually brought them to Western!
