The WOU Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Program is designed to prepare you to help yourself, your family, and your neighbors in the event of a major emergency or disaster. Because emergency services personnel will not be able to help everyone immediately, you can make a difference by using CERT Training to save lives and protect property.
The foremost reason for CERT training is to give you the decision-making and physical skills needed to offer immediate assistance to family members, neighbors, and associates
Skills You Will Learn
CERT is about readiness, people helping people, rescuer safety, and doing the greatest good for the greatest number of people. CERT is a positive and realistic approach to emergency and disaster situations where citizens will be initially on their own and their actions can make a difference.
In the event of a major disaster, response from emergency responders may be delayed and/or not adequate to address the entirety of the problems on campus. Volunteering to join WOU CERT can be of great assistance to the campus community. If you are interested in volunteering and playing an important role in campus safety and preparedness, contact Chris Rech Rechc@mail.wou.edu
