Meet Our Health Science Majors
Evan Sterbick – Community Health – Ravenclaw Senior Career Aspirations: Working with the teenage homeless population in urban areas and providing opportunities to improve their overall health. On-campus Activities: I’m a part of an on-campus ministry called Resonate Church! Our mission is to spread the truth of the gospel of Jesus Christ to WOU, Monmouth, and Independence communities. Surprising Fact: I trained my goats to jump onto my back and stay there as I walk around the barn. Hunter or Gatherer: Gatherer What would you name your debut album: Heart Posture Celebrity/Fictional Dinner Guest: Jane Goodall so that I could ask her questions about what’s she’s learned that she hasn’t put into her books. If you could a professor any question, what would it be: If it’s a professor with a family: How do you balance a passion for teaching students and shepherding your own family? Inspirational Quote: “If the music is popp’n, my lanta you better be dancing chica!” – My best friend Beth One of your Favorite STEM Profs: LeMaster because of his passion and dedication to his students that make the time to learn the material and own their studies. He is also very supportive of extra curricular activities that encourage healthy living! What’s your best study tip for STEM classes: Understand the why and how versus memorizing nothing. How do you deal with the stress of being a STEM major: I practice time management! I have a study buddy that keeps me accountable with my studies, but I also remember to workout each day and let myself breathe through doing something I love. How do you think we could better support STEM majors on campus: Encouraging study times with just STEM majors to discover and meet more STEM majors.

Sophomore Career Aspirations: I hope to work with people through working in the medical field. Right now I hope to become a RN then further expand my career options and education. How do you deal with the stress of being a STEM major: I put everything into my planner/journal and I run. How do you think we could better support STEM majors on campus: You guys do a great job!
