Her doctorate is in special education with a focus on mild to moderate disabilities with a minor in emotional and behavioral disorders. Her research focuses on pre-service teacher preparation and in-service teacher coaching to support and improve outcomes for learners with special academic and behavioral needs through the use of high-leverage practices (HLPs). She is skilled in multi-tiered systems of support (MTSS), assessment, and Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS).</p> <p>She is passionate about assisting individuals with exceptionalities and worked for several years as a public school teacher in self-contained and inclusive settings. She has special education (PK-12), English as a second language (PK-12), gifted and talented (PK-12), and elementary education (PK-8) teacher certification. Western Oregon University’s Land Acknowledgement
Western Oregon University in Monmouth, OR is located within the traditional homelands of the Luckiamute Band of Kalapuya. Following the Willamette Valley Treaty of 1855 (Kalapuya etc. Treaty), Kalapuya people were forcibly removed to reservations in Western Oregon. Today, living descendants of these people are a part of the Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde Community of Oregon and the Confederated Tribes of the Siletz Indians.
