Welcome to the ACE Learner Success Lab

In the fall of 2020, WOU was selected as one of 10 institutions to be part of an initial cohort of the American Council of Education’s (ACE) Learner Success Lab.

Program Overview

ACE’s Learner Success Lab is an inclusive learning community that integrates evidence-based practices for persistence, life design and career exploration, and workforce skills development to assist participating institutions in developing a comprehensive strategy for learner success.

The LSL is a comprehensive change management process that facilitates continuous improvement through intentional transformation of institutional systems, processes, programs, and culture around learner success. The process is anticipated to complete by Spring of 2022

The pandemic has exposed existing inequities at a time when Western Oregon University is on the verge of becoming a Hispanic Serving Institution. This is the moment for us to address systemic problems and become a truly inclusive community with learner success at our center. To accomplish that, we will reflect as an institution and community, and review our assets and challenges. Over the next few months, the steering committee will reach out to our various stakeholders to listen deeply and engage in honest and positive dialogue with each other.

For more information about the model and reflection questions, please review Part 1 and Part 2 of the process.
