Veterans Day – In appreciation and remembrance of those who have served.

Dear Faculty, Staff, students and friends of Western Oregon University:

Tuesday, November 11 is Veterans Day – a day to commemorate the men and women who have served in the military of the United States to preserve the freedom that we appreciate in our country every day. Thank you to all associated with WOU who have served our country.

Please join me in honoring and commemorating service members this week on this site. Take a moment out of your day, to think about the sacrifices of our Veterans; thank your loved ones for their service. We owe them much!

Western Oregon University’s Land Acknowledgement
Western Oregon University in Monmouth, OR is located within the traditional homelands of the Luckiamute Band of Kalapuya. Following the Willamette Valley Treaty of 1855 (Kalapuya etc. Treaty), Kalapuya people were forcibly removed to reservations in Western Oregon. Today, living descendants of these people are a part of the Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde Community of Oregon and the Confederated Tribes of the Siletz Indians.
