James Beaird
was appointed by Chancellor
William Davis as interim president
of Western Oregon State College
(WOSC) from September 1, 1982
to January 31, 1983, when
Richard
Meyers was selected as
WOSC President.
Beaird began his distinguished
career at the school in 1962
as a faculty member of Oregon
College of Education (OCE).
In 1977, Beaird was promoted
to College Provost by President
Roy
Leinwand. Beaird was Provost
until 1982, when he became
interim president. After serving
as interim president, Beard
returned to the classroom
and was a respected member
of the Psychology faculty
until his retirement.
