MONMOUTH, Ore. – Western Oregon University proudly announced the induction of 21 new members into its Phi Kappa Phi honor society this past spring. Established in 1897, Phi Kappa Phi is the nation’s oldest all-discipline honor society, dedicated to recognizing academic excellence across various fields.
Western’s Chapter 223 was founded by faculty in 1979, and membership is extended by invitation only to the top 7.5% of juniors and the top 10% of seniors and graduate students.
New initiate Martin Hainz expressed his gratitude, stating, “Being inducted into Phi Kappa Phi acknowledges all the hard work and time I’ve put in throughout the years, especially in graduate school at Western. Additionally, it means that I can represent my local community as an honor society member.”
The Honor Society’s Executive Committee includes the following individuals:
