Where would ‘obruni’ (a white person) go for a haircut in Winneba?

My hair was getting long and not spiked the way I like it. Winneba is a town where obruni are few. The first place where we stopped, the woman in charge was not in and nobody else would cut my hair. We were told that she would be back on Monday. We had passed a barber that Carolina had said was good. At least, Frank could get his hair cut there. When we went in, Carolina asked if they could cut my hair and was told that another barber would do it. He was summoned, sat me down in a barber’s chair, and began cutting my hair with an electric razor. When he cut the left half of my bangs off, I gave a little shriek. He stopped and asked if it was okay and I just said I hadn’t expected him to cut off my bangs. At this point, I just let go. What could I do? My hair will grow back. The very bright side: this was by far the absolute cheapest haircut I have ever gotten. It was 4 cedis or about $1.08. I won’t need any product in it for some time and I will be able to cut down on the amount of shampoo I use. Very economical!
