Acting Opportunities

Thank you for your interest in auditioning for Valley Shakespeare Company. At this time, we are no longer accepting audition submissions. Please check back next fall for details concerning auditions for 2023.

Plays being produced in our 2023 season will be announced in late August 2022. Please visit https://wou.edu/valley-shakespeare-company/ at the end September for a complete list of production activities.  VSC hires AEA actors on Guest Artist contracts and non-AEA actors on single-show contracts.  Volunteer internships are also available, as well as student internships for credit.  Valley Shakespeare Company is an equal opportunity employer and encourages actors of underrepresented groups to audition for our season. Upcoming Deadlines
Procedures for signing up for an auditions or submitting a video audition will be sent out on Monday, January 2. Instructions will also be sent out at this time.

  • TBA, Late April — Notifications of a callback—both live and video—will be sent via email (with sides)

Audition materials
For live initial auditions, please bring with you one (1) hardcopy of your headshot and resume stapled together or printed back to back.

For all initial auditions, please prepare two (2) contrasting classical monologues, no more than two (2) minutes in length total (each piece should not exceed 1 minute in duration). One (1) monologue must be comedic, one (1) should be dramatic, and at least one of the two should be Shakespeare.

Volunteer

General Crew Opportunities
Volunteer crew positions available for productions may include: Stage Manager, Assistant Stage Manager, Run Crew, Head of Props, Light Board Operator, Sound Board Operator, Set Construction crew, and Front of House Manager.

To be considered for a crew position, you should have previous experience, access to reliable transportation, and be available and willing to attend rehearsals and work on the campus of WOU. Preference will be given to applicants who possess significant educational or community theatre experience.

Volunteer Ushers
Volunteer opportunities are available for those interested in ushering or assisting in other methods of support for the company. Please send an email to janovid@wou.edu  expressing your level of interest and availability for volunteer opportunities.
