Assignment
Answer the following questions:

  1. How many filled pyramids does it take to fill the cube? If the length of each side of the cube is 10 inches, what is the volume of the pyramid?
  2. How many filled spheres does it take to fill the cylinder? What portion of a filled cylinder does it take to fill the sphere?
  3. How many filled cones does it take to fill the cylinder? What portion of a filled cylinder does it take to fill the pyramid?
  4. How many filled spheres does it take to fill the cube? If the sphere has radius 2 cm, what is the volume of the cube (to the nearest 0.01 cubic centimeters)?
  5. How many filled half-cones does it take to fill the cone?
  6. What happens to the volume of a cone when you double both the radius and the height of the cone? (For example, try seeing what happens if your original cone has radius 1m and altitude 2m. How does the volume change when you double the radius and altitude? Try the same thing with other initial altitudes and radii to get a better idea of what is going on.)
