NEW YEAR work resolution...blog more :)

I have resolved to blog more in 2011, we will have to see how it goes. I have a tendency to forget to take the time to stop and write a work blog, it is always falling to the end of the priority list.

The Month of January has been fairly busy one and the weeks have flown by. I have been training a student worker to help me with inventory of Smart Clasroom equipment. We have a lot of stuff coming in to outfit the 9+ new classrooms that are part of new Health and Wellness Center. It is mostly Audio/Video equipment but there is some computers for Instructor Stations and for a small Exercise Science lab (8 stations).

AIC proposal price quotes have taken up a fair amount of my work time this month as well. I have been working through those request along with Nathan Sauer to get those price quotes back to requestors by the Febraury 1st deadline. There is quite a range of equipment that has come through so far. It has been a combination of camcorders, lab stations, specialized technical equipment and smart classroom audio/video equipment.

I am still continually working on GFA replacement of computers/laptops and have been wrapping up W#2004 replacements and moved into W#2005s this month. We occasionally still find a "lost" W#2003 "in the wild" and replace those on occasion. I hope to be through the W#2005's by end of Winter term.
I am to the point of needing to send out "search parties" on some of the W#2003s and W#2004s to determine were they have migrated to and get them replaced before they cause more trouble then they are worth. :)

On the personal development front:

I am constantly checking out new apps and functionality for the iPad. I still love Evernote app. It is my latest geeky passion. If you have not heard of it you should go check it out:

Here it is what I am striving for by intergrating Evernote into my daily life... :)

The iPad is still a "work in progress". It is first generation technology and is just beginning to have a lot of apps that are useful in the education setting. Below is an interesting article I found today about the iPads use in the classroom setting.
