Students who use the Writing Center will read, write, and revise like writers.<\/strong><\/h3>\n
After one session at the Writing Center, students will accomplish the following:<\/p>\n
\n
demonstrate an understanding of the function of a session and of the Writing Center<\/li>\n
articulate a next step for the revision of a particular document<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
After three or more sessions at the Writing Center, students will accomplish the following:\u200b<\/p>\n
\n
identify personal strengths and challenges with regards to their written communication skills<\/li>\n
see an increase in their writerly self-efficacy<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

Faculty who utilize the Writing Center will read, teach, design, and evaluate like writing teachers.<\/strong><\/h3>\n
After an assignment design session or an in-class spotlight workshop, faculty will be able to do the following:<\/p>\n
\n
reconstruct assignment directions in regards to audience, genre conventions, and evaluation criteria (as observed through revision of assignment directions)<\/li>\n
embed the Writing Center as a regular part of their classroom culture (as observed through repeated class presentation, student usage, and syllabus statement)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
Tutors who work in the Writing Center will read and respond like compassionate writers.<\/strong><\/h3>\n
During a session, tutors will be able to accomplish the following:<\/p>\n
\n
reconstruct assignment directions in regards to audience, genre conventions, and evaluations criteria<\/li>\n
articulate a writer’s strengths and challenges with care<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

Writing Centers are an essential part of Hispanic Serving Institutions, and WOU is committed to providing resources for writers in both English and Spanish. Our Bilingual Specialist, as well as other bilingual tutors, are prepared to help students on our available schedule, and resources are prepared in both English and Spanish.
