Many of the selections this year have a great diversity of cultures depicted in the movies.<br \/>\nI\u2019ve watched the films nominated and predicted the winners for some categories. The following categories and nominees are:<\/p>\n<p>Animated Feature Film &#8211; \u201cZootopia\u201d<br \/>\nDirecting &#8211; \u201cLa La Land\u201d<br \/>\nCinematography &#8211; \u201cLa La Land\u201d<br \/>\nEditing &#8211; \u201cArrival\u201d<br \/>\nMusic: Original Song &#8211; \u201cHow Far I\u2019ll Go\u201d from \u201cMoana\u201d<br \/>\nWriting: Adapted Screenplay &#8211; \u201cArrival\u201d<br \/>\nVisual Effects &#8211; \u201cDoctor Strange\u201d<\/p>\n<p>For this particular Oscar ceremony there is a lot of controversy over the movie \u201cLa La Land.\u201d The musical looks good and uses a lot of long takes. It also received 14 Oscar nominations, rivaling \u201cAll about Eve\u201d and \u201cTitanic.\u201d Both lead actors, Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling, received Oscar nominations. The only backlash that this movie received is from critics on how it depicts jazz culture, which can be compared to pop culture in how it could be misrepresented and may not be true to its roots, which is why it may not win as many categories as some would expect it to win.<br \/>\nThe films nominated offer a lot of diversity in setting, such as in \u201cMoana.\u201d It is based off of Polynesian culture when they used to sail the seas, especially when finding new land.
