{"id":2726,"date":"2016-01-28T19:03:57","date_gmt":"2016-01-29T03:03:57","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.wou.edu\/westernjournal\/?p=2726"},"modified":"2016-01-28T19:03:57","modified_gmt":"2016-01-29T03:03:57","slug":"musings-from-a-woman-on-the-edge-7","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wou.edu\/westernhowl\/musings-from-a-woman-on-the-edge-7\/","title":{"rendered":"Musings from a woman on the edge"},"content":{"rendered":"<pre>By: Katrina Penaflor \r\nManaging Editor<\/pre>\n<p>For all the people out there struggling with just about everything in their early 20s, I\u2019m with you.<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019ve often heard the phrase \u201cmid-life crisis\u201d to describe people in their 40s who panic halfway through their life because they\u2019re making a difficult transition into a more serious stage of adulthood.<\/p>\n<p>Well, I\u2019m not in my 40s, although my addiction to Lifetime movies and constantly using the phrase \u201ckids these days\u201d could lead you to believe otherwise, but I do very much believe I\u2019m in the transitional stage of a quarter-life crisis.<\/p>\n<p>Or maybe that\u2019s not even the correct phrase to use here. But I think a lot of students can understand the feeling I\u2019m trying to portray: nearing the end of college where everything tends to get more and more confusing.<\/p>\n<p>I always think, \u201cWow, I\u2019ve been in college for four years now, I\u2019ve totally got a handle on things.\u201d Wrong. The only thing I have a handle on is a glass of wine after a long week of asking for advice from friends who are succeeding at the whole \u201cbeing an adult thing\u201d better than I am.<\/p>\n<p>Like, in the office of The Journal the other day our EIC asked if I could call back a person I just spoke to on the phone. He mentioned \u201c*67,\u201d or \u201c*65\u201d or something\u2014see I can\u2019t even remember the right phrase\u2014and I literally had no idea what he meant.<\/p>\n<p>This lead to the questions, could I handle working in an office setting? Do I even want to work in an office in the future? I have no freakin\u2019 clue.<\/p>\n<p>Senior year of college has turned into an endless track of these kinds of questions. So, what is my advice for people suffering a potential quarter-life crisis like I am?
