{"id":2658,"date":"2016-01-21T19:19:36","date_gmt":"2016-01-22T03:19:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.wou.edu\/westernjournal\/?p=2658"},"modified":"2016-01-25T13:01:02","modified_gmt":"2016-01-25T21:01:02","slug":"musings-from-a-woman-on-the-edge-6","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wou.edu\/westernhowl\/musings-from-a-woman-on-the-edge-6\/","title":{"rendered":"Musings from a woman on the edge"},"content":{"rendered":"<pre>By: Katrina Penaflor \r\nManaging Editor<\/pre>\n<p>When I was sitting down to write my column this week, I had a moment where I thought, hmm\u2026 there really isn\u2019t anything I have to sass about this week, how wonderful.<\/p>\n<p>And then I read this article on BuzzFeed titled \u201c15 waters that need to be stopped,\u201d and then I thought, \u201dyup, this is something I definitely need to sass about.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Basically, if you haven\u2019t already gathered from the title, the article was talking about ridiculous types of water. When I first saw it, I was thinking \u201creally? There are 15 different types of dumb water? No way.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>But, as usual when it comes to pretentious drinks, I seriously underestimated the absurdities of the water industry. Which is actually a thing.<\/p>\n<p>One of the most ridiculous ones was \u201casparagus water\u201d which was sold at Whole Foods for about $6. Yes, you read that correctly, a 16 ounce bottle of water was $6. Why, you ask? Because it contained four stalks of asparagus. Are you kidding me?!<\/p>\n<p>Because really, if you\u2019re putting these items in your grocery cart just give me the $6 instead\u2014I know I\u2019ll find a better use for it.<\/p>\n<p>Another equally outrageous one was \u201cblk.\u201d or water that was completely black. Why is it black? I looked it up and it\u2019s infused with black fulvic trace minerals, which, according to their website, \u201care thought to contain an abundance of natural plant sourced nutrients including: natural electrolytes, amino acids, 77 trace minerals, antioxidants, and a pH of 8.0+.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>Just stop with all the \u201care thought to\u2019s\u201d and lists of ingredients that are used in an attempt to trick people into thinking they need to buy it.
