{"id":2426,"date":"2016-01-07T19:30:38","date_gmt":"2016-01-08T03:30:38","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.wou.edu\/westernjournal\/?p=2426"},"modified":"2026-04-14T19:30:58","modified_gmt":"2026-04-15T03:30:58","slug":"rush-week-for-greek-life","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wou.edu\/westernhowl\/rush-week-for-greek-life\/","title":{"rendered":"Rush Week for Greek Life"},"content":{"rendered":"<pre>By: Amanda Clarke\r\nStaff Writer<\/pre>\n<p>Throughout the week, the Greek Organizations on campus have been putting on events to recruit new members for their fraternities and sororities.<\/p>\n<p>Alpha Chi Omega held a social event on Wednesday night that included a photo booth and a short presentation on the sorority. Women who were interested in joining the sorority, which is new on campus this year, mingled with the sisters and learned more about the organization.<\/p>\n<p>Kappa Delta Chi, a sorority established at Western in 2012, hosted multiple events including a Service Day on Tuesday, where they made pillows for survivors of breast cancer, a Karaoke and Social event on Wednesday, and a No Hazing event on Thursday in collaboration with Omega Delta Chi and Alpha Chi Omega<br \/>\nCecelia Perez, a sophomore education major and Special Projects Chair of Kappa Delta Chi said, &#8220;We don&#8217;t haze and we have never hazed our members.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Kappa Delta Chi is an academic and service based sorority. They have four focuses: Unity, Honesty, Integrity and Leadership.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We really strive to get our women to graduate college and [&#8230;] push them to pursue their dreams and goals,&#8221; said Perez. &#8220;We want them to grow within this organization and become great leaders.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Greek Week is also in the plans. Every year, the Greek organizations on campus compete with one another. At the end of the week, a trophy is awarded to the winners.
