Student Engagement honors Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. in a virtual rendition of their MLK Celebration\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

Student Engagement has formatted their week-long Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration to be hosted virtually. This year, the week of commemoration and activities are themed after Dr. King\u2019s \u201cWe have come a long, long way, but we still have a long, long way to go\u201d speech.<\/span><\/p>\n

Service Fundraiser for Emergency Student Aid<\/b>: <\/span>Students are facing unexpected financial hardships.The MLK planning committee is asking for donations towards the Western\u2019s Emergency Student Aid fund between now and Jan. 31 at<\/span> wou.edu\/foundation\/give-to-wou\/<\/span><\/a> to raise $2,021.<\/span><\/p>\n

Faculty & Staff Panel<\/b>: On Jan. 19 from 12 to 1 p.m. via <\/span>Zoom<\/span><\/a>, students can hear faculty and staff <\/span>voice their thoughts on social climate for Black and African Americans and then answer the prompt \u201cwhy the time is always right to do right.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

MLK Keynote Address<\/b>: On Jan. 20 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. via <\/span>livestream<\/span><\/a>, <\/span>Tai Harden-Moore<\/span><\/a> \u23e4 Founder and CEO of Moore Consultants \u23e4 will speak on strategies to create inclusive environments for all.<\/span><\/p>\n

Student Q&A with Keynote<\/b>: Students are invited to join keynote speaker Harden-Moore for a Q&A session hosted by the Black Student Union from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Jan. 20 via <\/span>Zoom<\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

WOU Student-Athlete Panel<\/b>:\u00a0 In this event, <\/span>student-athletes voice their opinions on the current social climate for Black and African Americans and answer the prompt \u201cwhy the time is always right to do right\u201d on Jan. 21 from 12 to 1 p.m. on <\/span>Zoom<\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

MLK Video Contest Winners<\/b>: The winners of the video contest asking students to answer\u00a0 <\/span>\u201cwhy the time is always right to do right\u201d will be announced on Jan. 22 by special guests. Winners will receive WolfStore certificates: $200 for first place, $125 for second place and $75 for third place. Videos can be viewed on <\/span>wou.edu\/mlk<\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n
